Dragon Age Character Sheet

Welcome to my Dragon Age character sheet! For those unfamiliar with the games, in each one you are given a character to control. While they have their backstory more or less fixed, how they behave, think and feel is up to you, and thus they become an interesting hybrid of both original and canon protagonist.

Dragon Age: Origins has you playing as a Grey Warden, leading the fight against the Blight.

Dragon Age 2 has you playing as Hawke, a refugee from the Blight who ends up having a major role in the next large conflict, the mage-Templar war.

Dragon Age: Inquisition has you playing as the Herald of Andraste, the sole survivor of the mage-Templar peace talks, and as a result you also acquire a strange power.

Name: Elissa Hannah Cousland
Age: 22 [32 at the time of Inquisition]
Class: Warrior/ Dual wielding

Elissa is the youngest Cousland, daughter of Teyrn Bryce and Eleanor Cousland and sister to Fergus Cousland. Her family were betrayed by their former friend and ally Arl Rendon Howe, leaving Elissa as the lone survivor. She is drafted into the Order of Grey Wardens as a result, and after being framed for the death of the King of Ferelden, is forced to raise an army to fight the real threat of the Blight.

So, what's Elissa like? Well, why not ask her some questions and find out.

1. What position does your character sleep in? ( i.e; stomach, side, back, etc.)
I sleep on my side.

2. Describe why they do this — optional.
I...feel very vulnerable when I'm asleep, so it just makes me feel a bit more protected.

3. Does your character have any noteworthy features? Freckles? Dimples? A scar somewhere unusual? etc.
I have a mole on my lower belly, and a few scars here and there. Mostly from climbing to places I probably shouldn't have.

4. Does your character have an accent? What does it sound like?
I have a Ferelden accent. Sounds like a British accent.

5. Do they have any verbal tics? Do they have trouble pronouncing certain words or getting their thoughts across clearly?
I'm pretty quiet by nature. I'm not very good at spontaneous speeches or anything. I'd like to hope I get my points across clearly but I know how easy it is for others to twist my words.

6. What are their chief tension areas?
My lower neck and shoulders usually.

7. How does your character perceive themselves? Positive? Negative? Neutral?
I want to say neutral, but I admit I do have a tendency to blame myself if things go wrong. Sometimes it can get too much and I can't face it, so I run.

8. Are they a quick thinker or do they need time to sort through their thoughts?
In battle, I can think on my feet. In social situations, though, I'm not as confident, and I have to think things through. I can find it quite overwhelming sometimes, in fact.

9. Does your character dream or are their nights filled with an empty blackness?
I dream a lot. Before becoming a Warden, when I wasn't being haunted by darkspawn in my sleep, I often dreamt of running freely. Used to be one of my favourites. Sad to say I don't dream about that anymore. The Taint has made sure of that.

10. Describe a dream they’ve had or a night they couldn’t sleep and what they did to preoccupy their time.
I had problems sleeping shortly after leaving the Kocari Wilds, right after I become a Warden. The loss of my family never really hit home until we started travelling. I remember a few days after we'd left Lothering, I just could not settle. So I left camp and went for a run. I ended up stopping near a small lake. I...wondered what would happen if I jumped in and didn't surface.

My friend Leliana came after me, though, worried that something had happened. We talked for a little while, and we eventually fell asleep by the lake. Much to Alistair's annoyance the next morning.

11. What do they think of creation? Do they believe in evolution or do they believe in God? What is their religion like?
I suppose I believe in the Maker like anyone else. My mother was quite religious, but I never really cared much. Now she's gone though...I do make more of an effort to count my blessings and thank the Maker where I can. I am starting to believe that a higher power is at work, too, given all the near misses I've had recently.

12. Describe 5 unusual characteristics your muse has. (physical, mental, psychological, social, spiritual)

1. I already mentioned the mole I have.
2. My memory is pretty good. I can recall seemingly trivial details.
3. I tend to be quite cold emotionally. I always found it hard to relate to others, and my circumstances have made it worse.
4. I prefer to listen rather than speak, so I won't say a lot in conversation.
5. Like I said, I do give thanks to the Maker more often than I did.

13. Have they ever been so overwhelmed they had to stop and take a break from something?
Well, there was the whole thing after Lady Isolde died...I'm still ashamed to admit it, but I ran away from my duty as the result of what I thought was a mistake. It almost cost me, but I had a good friend to bring me back where I needed to be.

14.Are they a team player or do they prefer to be solo?
If I'm honest, I prefer to be alone. I don't like relying on others.

15. Can they multi-task or must they focus on one subject at a time?
I can multi-task smaller things but if there's a big aim, I can only focus on one thing.

16. What are their best school subjects? What are their worst?
Hmm, let's see...I was educated at home, and I was quite good at Philosophy, Geography and History, and the Natural Sciences. I also wasn't too bad at Music, but I didn't have a gift or anything. I was pretty terrible at Languages, Fine Arts, and Numeracy.

17. Is your character an introvert or an extrovert? How do they handle big crowds of people?
Definitely an introvert. I used to not mind big crowds, but after losing everything my claustrophobia's become a lot worse, so I try to avoid them as much as possible.

18. Are they a leader, do they prefer to follow, or would they rather just stay on the sidelines altogether?
I'd prefer to stay on the sidelines, but I was pushed to become a leader. I still don't really feel too confident about it, as it wasn't something I was ever prepared for. How others feel they can rely on me is beyond me.

19. If your character was suddenly challenged, would they rather run away or stay and fight?
Depends. If I was outmatched, I'd run. If it was something I could deal with, I'd fight.

20. If your character was allowed to murder one person without any consequences, who would that person be and why?
Rendon Howe. For obvious reasons.

21. Your character has been granted 3 wishes; what would they wish for and why?
I'd wish for my family to come back, as I miss them so much, even now.

I'd wish for the Taint to disappear, so there'd be no more Blights and no more Wardens suffering.

And my last wish would be for all my friends and family to be happy, no matter what.

22. Does your character trust people right off the bat or does it take them some time to warm up to someone?
I don't trust easily at all, even when I was younger. That's become quite a bit worse since Howe's...well, you know.

23. Do they prefer romance or affection? What is the quickest way to your character’s heart?
Affection is more sincere I think; I'm not one for lavish shows or gifts. If you want to woe me, show me kindness and respect. Helps if you can make me laugh, too.

24. Does your character have any enemies? If so, who and why?
Oh, plenty. Not all through my own fault, either. There's Howe, of course, and Loghain, and anyone else who's not a fan of the Wardens. It would take too long to list them all.

25. Do they have any weird bedroom habits? Any unusual kinks?
I...um...do I have to answer this? Really? Well...I like extra pillows, maybe?

26. How does your character prepare for bed? Do they sleep at all or can they stay awake for days on end without trouble?
Back home, I'd usually put on something light, like a gown. I might read for a bit, or play with my mabari hound Duke.

After I became a Warden, I'd just drop everything and sleep. I get much too tired for anything else. The darkspawn nightmares don't help.

27. If your character had one thing to say to their parents before they died, what would it be?
I told them I loved them, and that I promised the Cousland name would not disappear. I wish I could've said more...

28. Are they afraid of death? Do they have any regrets?
For a while I wasn't afraid of death. At least, I didn't think I was. But when it really came down to it, I was terrified. I now appreciate how precious life is, so I don't try to throw myself away.

Regrets? About fifty million. Not being able to save my parents, not being able to save Lady Isolde, not overcoming my fear and realising I was in love with a woman, dragging my friends through some horrible moments...want me to go on?

29. Does your character get restless when things are too quiet or do they favour solitude and silence? Why?
I used to enjoy the quiet, but now it makes me remember too much of what I've lost. So now I tend to prefer having some background noise. I tend to hum things in my head as well, to help distract my thoughts. Don't ask me to sing, though.

30. Finally; if your character was forced to eat one thing for the rest of their life, what would they choose and why?
Oh, well...hmm, that's a hard one! Probably the roast boar we had at Arl Eamon's after the Landsmeet, that was good.

Name: Amber Hawke
Age: 23 [33 at the time of Inquisition]
Class: Rogue

Amber Hawke is the eldest daughter to Malcolm and Leandra Hawke, and elder sister to twin siblings Bethany and Carver. Malcolm was an apostate- a mage who had left the Circle of Magi- and thus much of her life has been spent constantly moving around. Most recently her family settled in the Ferelden village of Lothering, until it was overrun with darkspawn.

Hawke fled with her mother and siblings, alas Carver was killed along the way. Hawke, Leandra and Bethany survived to flee to the Free Marches city of Kirkwall, where Leandra had family. But things are in worse shape than Hawke could imagine, and so begins a new life of hardship in a foreign land.

So, Amber, tell us about yourself:

1. What position does your character sleep in? ( i.e; stomach, side, back, etc.)
Back.

2. Describe why they do this — optional.
Because it's comfortable, dammit!

3. Does your character have any noteworthy features? Freckles? Dimples? A scar somewhere unusual? etc.
I have a birthmark on my back. It's pretty faded though. Aside from that, I'm just plain and simple.

4. Does your character have an accent? What does it sound like?
It's Ferelden, given that I've lived most of my life there. I am getting a touch of Kirkwall, though.

5. Do they have any verbal tics? Do they have trouble pronouncing certain words or getting their thoughts across clearly?
I do make a lot of sarcastic comments, and my humour can be pretty black at times. I don't think I have any problems getting my point across.

6. What are their chief tension areas?
My lower back kills sometimes.

7. How does your character perceive themselves? Positive? Negative? Neutral?
It used to be quite positive, but given my recent failures, I don't think like that anymore. I'm not as good as I think I am. That's for definite.

8. Are they a quick thinker or do they need time to sort through their thoughts?
I can think pretty quick. Not quick enough sometimes, though.

9. Does your character dream or are their nights filled with an empty blackness?
Pretty much empty for me. I might well dream, but I never recall anything when I wake up.

10. Describe a dream they’ve had or a night they couldn’t sleep and what they did to preoccupy their time.
If I dream, I don't remember much about them. I'm a very heavy sleeper, and so far have yet to have an unsettled night.

11. What do they think of creation? Do they believe in evolution or do they believe in God? What is their religion like?
I'm not a big believer in the Maker. Whether He exists or not is one thing, but how the Chantry exult him makes me sick. I just can't believe something so benevolent can exist, given how we live down here. So I prefer to believe what I can see. My younger sister Beth is quite devout, however, so I humour her.

12. Describe 5 unusual characteristics your muse has. (physical, mental, psychological, social, spiritual)

1. I have a birthmark on my back.
2. I can read people quite easily, which has come in useful on numerous occasions.
3. I have a habit of tossing a coin over my shoulder if I want some extra luck. Can't say it works brilliantly but if I don't do it the results are even worse.
4. I always tend to break the ice with people with a joke of some sort. It isn't always received well.
5. I'm not very spiritual at all, given my life in general. What manner of deity would like this kind of suffering run rampant?

13. Have they ever been so overwhelmed they had to stop and take a break from something?
I'd say Carver's death was the first, but we were still running for our lives, so I don't think that counts. In which case I'd say it was saying goodbye to Bethany when she went to join the Grey Wardens. We...didn't part on the best terms, and I had to sit for a long while before I could do anything.

14.Are they a team player or do they prefer to be solo?
Love being in a team, being surrounded by people I can rely on. On my own...I just feel too helpless, I don't like it.

15. Can they multi-task or must they focus on one subject at a time?
One thing at a time. I'm just one person, yeah?

16. What are their best school subjects? What are their worst?
I didn't have much of a formal education outside of a few Circle tidbits Father used to tell and the basics of reading and writing and numeracy from Mother. I do pick up things quick however, so you can teach me anything!

17. Is your character an introvert or an extrovert? How do they handle big crowds of people?
Oh, extrovert. I love meeting and talking to people, and being in a crowded tavern with an ale in my hand is how I'd love to spend the rest of my days.

18. Are they a leader, do they prefer to follow, or would they rather just stay on the sidelines altogether?
While I've been used to staying out of the limelight- a childhood on the run will do that to you- it's been refreshing stepping up to face all the injustices. But I only feel so confident because I have good friends to rely on.

19. If your character was suddenly challenged, would they rather run away or stay and fight?
Fight. If I'd been braver that day we fled Lothering, maybe Carver wouldn't have died.

20. If your character was allowed to murder one person without any consequences, who would that person be and why?
Ah, just one? I already have a body count list longer than my arm. All slain with good reason, of course. I'm not some kind of monster.

21. Your character has been granted 3 wishes; what would they wish for and why?
I'd wish that Father and Carver and Mother were back alive, so we could be together again.

I'd also wish for Bethany to come home, and that she wouldn't ever have to be hunted for her gift of magic.

My last wish would be for all of us to live somewhere without fear, looking after ourselves and having the peace we almost had in Lothering again.

22. Does your character trust people right off the bat or does it take them some time to warm up to someone?
I'm a fairly warm person, but since coming to Kirkwall I've learned to be a lot more wary. Some people are very friendly, however, like Varric and Merrill, and I took to liking them very quick.

23. Do they prefer romance or affection? What is the quickest way to your character’s heart?
I'm all for romance! Shower me in flowers and nice food and I'll be swept off my feet in no time. There still needs to be a bit of personality, however.

24. Does your character have any enemies? If so, who and why?
Tonnes. It's only natural when you live in a city like Kirkwall. Everything's so damned polarised, picking sides is inevitable. Right now I'd say the Templars are probably the most dangerous ones.

25. Do they have any weird bedroom habits? Any unusual kinks?
My my, aren't we prying? All I can say is: silk ribbons.

26. How does your character prepare for bed? Do they sleep at all or can they stay awake for days on end without trouble?
Heh, I can sleep for Ferelden! What can I say, I love my beauty rest. There's no big ritual or anything, though. Just hit the sheets and drift into blissful unconsciousness.

27. If your character had one thing to say to their parents before they died, what would it be?
When Father died, we were all gathered around his bedside and told him how much we loved him. I also promised him I'd take over and protect everyone. Not that I seemed to make good on that.

With Mother...I couldn't face it, and I just made a stupid joke. It made her laugh, at least. I wish I could have eased her pain more.

28. Are they afraid of death? Do they have any regrets?
Maybe in the past, but not anymore. Not when I've seen it take the ones I care about. Now I don't care what it takes, I'll do everything to protect my family.

As for regrets, who doesn't have any? My biggest ones are failing to save Carver, and for making Bethany join the Grey Wardens and leave us forever. I hope someday I can at least make it up to Beth again.

29. Does your character get restless when things are too quiet or do they favour solitude and silence? Why?
I don't like silence- it makes me edgy and uncomfortable. Probably one of the reasons I talk too much.

30. Finally; if your character was forced to eat one thing for the rest of their life, what would they choose and why?
Easy- Mother's tried and tested roast pork with all the trimmings! It was my favourite when we lived in Lothering.

Name: Lahara 'Lara' Nevenka Julia Trevelyan
Age: 26 [at time of Inquisition]
Class: Mage

Lahara Trevelyan is the youngest in House Trevelyan, a noble family from the Free Marches. Age eight her magic manifested and so she spent the rest of her life in the Ostwick Circle of Magi, along with her elder brother, Joseph. A rather laid back student, Lahara coasted along, until the mage-templar conflict broke out.

Infighting in the Ostwick Circle led Lahara to flee, although her brother was killed. She wandered the wilderness alone, until finally she decided to do something to help. Thus she volunteered to be present at the Conclave peach talks...and ended up as the lone survivor with a strange mark on her left hand.

Alright, Lahara, it's your turn:

1. What position does your character sleep in? ( i.e; stomach, side, back, etc.)
On my front.

2. Describe why they do this — optional.
I like cuddling my pillow. What? Don't look at me like that!

3. Does your character have any noteworthy features? Freckles? Dimples? A scar somewhere unusual? etc.
I have heterochromia, my eyes are blue and green. It runs in the family, apparently. I also have this weird mark on my left hand, but that's another story.

4. Does your character have an accent? What does it sound like?
Free Marcher through and through. Hasn't changed in years.

5. Do they have any verbal tics? Do they have trouble pronouncing certain words or getting their thoughts across clearly?
I have a manner of speaking that can make people blink the first time they hear it, for sure. I'm kinda blunt, what can I say? I speak fairly fluently, but don't fluster me, then I'll start tripping over my words.

6. What are their chief tension areas?
My temples. I can be quite prone to headaches.

7. How does your character perceive themselves? Positive? Negative? Neutral?
Pretty positive. I mean, I'm a mage, I can do anything I set my mind to, right? Hehehe.

8. Are they a quick thinker or do they need time to sort through their thoughts?
I prefer to take my time. Oh alright, I procrastinate like hell. I am aware however I don't always have that luxury.

9. Does your character dream or are their nights filled with an empty blackness?
Of course I dream, I'm a mage, duh! Usually I'm having a walkabout the Fade, but sometimes I dream of other things. None of your business, of course ;).

10. Describe a dream they’ve had or a night they couldn’t sleep and what they did to preoccupy their time.
The one time I couldn't sleep was the day my brother died. He'd helped me escape the Circle Tower, but he was caught before he could join me. That...wasn't a pleasant experience. And weird as this sounds, I just danced the Raventrist, a traditional Free Marcher routine. It put my mind in a better place, for a time anyway.

11. What do they think of creation? Do they believe in evolution or do they believe in God? What is their religion like?
I do want to believe in the Maker, but it's...hard, you know? But I do understand that a lot of things done in His name doesn't mean He himself is bad. And sometimes it's nice to let go and not try to control everything going on in my life.

12. Describe 5 unusual characteristics your muse has. (physical, mental, psychological, social, spiritual)

1. I mentioned my eyes, it's usually the first thing people comment on.
2. For all my laziness, I'm still pretty bright. Much to people's general surprise.
3. I do have a tendency to shut myself off at times, when I get too overwhelmed. Doesn't seem to happen as much lately.
4. I'm not one to go out seeking new friends, I tend to keep to myself. Although my reputation tends to draw attention for me.
5. I do pray at least once a day, it makes me feel more settled.

13. Have they ever been so overwhelmed they had to stop and take a break from something?
I mentioned before, the night of my brother's death. Because it was my fault. Not just because I'd escaped first, but because Joseph had asked me to leave a few weeks before, and I'd refused.

Sorry...I don't really want to talk about this anymore.

14.Are they a team player or do they prefer to be solo?
I always flew solo. Too much dragging me down if I have to wait for others to catch up, right? Though now I wonder if that was such a good decision.

15. Can they multi-task or must they focus on one subject at a time?
I can juggle quite a few things around. Nobody believes it, though.

16. What are their best school subjects? What are their worst?
Hmm, well in the Circle we're not taught 'traditional' subjects. I had a few years at home, of course, learning the basics. My best magic subject was Elements. Never really got Force magic or Fade rifts much. Of course, this mark on my hand has made the latter way easy.

17. Is your character an introvert or an extrovert? How do they handle big crowds of people?
To be honest, I think I'm somewhere in between? I have times I want to be alone, and times I like talking about. Crowds aren't much of a bother, I can deal with them.

18. Are they a leader, do they prefer to follow, or would they rather just stay on the sidelines altogether?
Sidelines. Never saw the point in getting involved in anything if it wasn't for my own benefit. After Joseph died, though...I've started to take more responsibility. Now I'm the Herald of Andraste, so what can I say?

19. If your character was suddenly challenged, would they rather run away or stay and fight?
Run. I prefer to pick my battles.

20. If your character was allowed to murder one person without any consequences, who would that person be and why?
Ah...um...not sure how to answer this? There's people I'm angry at, for sure, but not enough to kill them like that.

21. Your character has been granted 3 wishes; what would they wish for and why?
Hmm, this is a good one...

I'd wish I'd had freedom as a mage to roam as I wished without fear of imprisonment.

I'd wish for time manipulation so I could take my time with everything.

And I'd wish for a good-looking girl to hang off my arm, hehe!

Yeah, kinda superficial I know.

22. Does your character trust people right off the bat or does it take them some time to warm up to someone?
I come off as quite friendly but yeah, you're gonna have to jump through the hoops before I trust you. All part of the 'not relying on others' philosophy I have.

23. Do they prefer romance or affection? What is the quickest way to your character’s heart?
Why not both? A little gesture now and them to make me all warm and fuzzy inside, and then a true demonstration!

I'm not fussy at all, right?

24. Does your character have any enemies? If so, who and why?
Didn't have a single one til I got this mark on my hand. Now you can probably count half of Thedas against me. Nothing personal, I know, but it still sucks.

25. Do they have any weird bedroom habits? Any unusual kinks?
Hahahaha!

...wait, you're serious?

26. How does your character prepare for bed? Do they sleep at all or can they stay awake for days on end without trouble?
This tends to be the only time I get to pray, so I tend to do that first. I can go a few nights with a light sleep but fatigue really hits hard so I don't do it often.

27. If your character had one thing to say to their parents before they died, what would it be?
I'd actually curse them both to hell. They were really rough with Joseph when he discovered his powers, and were all sweet and lovely to me until I showed the same. Parents are supposed to love their children no matter what. But as we were mages we weren't good for their image. Hmph.

28. Are they afraid of death? Do they have any regrets?
I am...very, very scared of dying. It makes me relive all the things I never did, and that chills me. I try not to think about it at all.

My main regret is not listening to my brother when I should have. Maybe then we'd still be together.

29. Does your character get restless when things are too quiet or do they favour solitude and silence? Why?
A bit of peace and quiet is always welcome. I don't like useless noise.

30. Finally; if your character was forced to eat one thing for the rest of their life, what would they choose and why?

Finally, a real question!

...one I also have to answer. Can you get back to me on that?
